Frequently asked questions
MySafeMeet is a personal safety app for iOS. It lets you schedule meetings with new or unfamiliar people and automatically monitors your safety throughout — without you having to think about it.
Before a meeting, you choose trusted safe contacts who will be notified if something goes wrong. The app detects when you arrive using background geofencing, then sends you periodic check-in reminders at intervals you choose. If you miss a check-in, your safe contacts receive an alert with your last known location. When you’re safely finished, you check out with a single tap and your contacts are notified.
When you schedule a meeting, you set a check-in frequency — every 15, 30, 60, or 120 minutes. Once the app detects your arrival at the meeting location (via background geofencing), the first check-in countdown begins.
At each interval you receive a push notification reminding you to check in. Tap it to confirm you’re safe. If you don’t respond before the interval expires, the app sends an alert to each safe contact you’ve assigned to that meeting. The alert includes your last known location.
You can also check in directly from the active meeting card on the Meetings screen at any time — you don’t have to wait for the reminder.
Before receiving any notifications, each safe contact receives a consent request. They must actively agree to be a contact before the app will send them any alerts. They can withdraw consent at any time.
Once enrolled, safe contacts may receive:
- Arrival notification — when the app detects you’ve arrived at your meeting location.
- Missed check-in alert — if you don’t respond to a check-in reminder in time. This includes your last known location and, if you’ve enabled it for that meeting, your emergency contact details.
- Safe departure notification — when you end a meeting and check out safely.
Notifications are sent by push notification (if the contact has the app) and/or SMS to their phone number.
MySafeMeet uses your device’s background location for two specific purposes, and only while an active meeting is running:
- Arrival detection — a circular geofence is placed around your meeting location. When your device enters that boundary, the app detects your arrival and starts the check-in countdown.
- Last known location — if you miss a check-in, the most recently recorded location is included in the alert sent to your safe contacts.
Background location collection stops as soon as the meeting ends. Your location is never collected outside an active meeting, never sold, and never used for advertising. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.
Because billing is handled entirely by Apple, you manage and cancel your subscription in iPhone Settings:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap MySafeMeet and then Cancel Subscription.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full access until then. If you’re in your 7-day free trial, cancel before the trial ends and you won’t be charged anything.
We do not handle refunds directly — refund requests go through Apple’s standard App Store refund process.
You can permanently delete your account from within the app:
- Open MySafeMeet and go to My Account (tap the profile icon).
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Account deletion is permanent. All your personal data — including your meetings, safe contacts, and location history — will be removed from our systems within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.
If you have an active subscription, cancel it in iPhone Settings first (see above). Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a subscription with Apple.
